- You get three values from the JoFotara portal — the Client-Id, the Secret-Key and the income source sequence — and enter them in Raqame once.
- Raqame sends every sales invoice and return straight from your device to the national system, never through our servers.
- Selling never stops: if the internet drops, the invoice is kept on your device and sent automatically, in order, as soon as you’re back online.
- Once accepted, the official QR code is stored with the invoice and printed on it, thermal or A4.
- E-invoicing is a paid add-on with its own code, and it’s included in the 7-day free trial inside the app.
What is JoFotara?
JoFotara is Jordan’s national e-invoicing system, run by the Income and Sales Tax Department (ISTD). A business sends it the sales invoices it issues; the system validates and records each one and returns a QR code that the buyer can scan to verify the invoice.
Invoices can be issued in the system’s portal itself, or from software connected to it, like Raqame — so each invoice reaches the system from the software instead of being typed into the portal a second time.
What you need before you start
- A business registered in the national invoicing system, and its main user account on the JoFotara portal.
- Raqame on an Android device, with an active base license and the E-invoicing add-on (or the free trial).
- Your business name and tax number in the company profile in Raqame — they’re sent with every invoice as the seller details.
- Your business’s registration type in the system: income, sales tax or special sales.
Step 1: Get your connection details from the JoFotara portal
- Sign in to the JoFotara portal with your business’s main user account.
- Open the device linking screen (ربط الأجهزة) and choose new link (ربط جديد).
- Enter a user name for this link (for example “Raqame – main branch”), pick the income source sequence these invoices will be issued under, then press Add.
- The link appears in the list of linked devices with its Client-Id, Secret-Key and income source sequence. Copy each value exactly, using the copy button next to it.
Step 2: Set up e-invoicing in Raqame
- Open Sales → Tools → E-Invoicing and choose the provider Jordan — JoFotara. Note: once you confirm the provider it can’t be changed.
- Enter the three values exactly as copied: Client-Id, Secret-Key and income source sequence. They’re stored encrypted in Android’s secure key store on your device.
- Choose the invoice type that matches your registration: Income, Sales tax or Special sales. Every business starts on Income; switching to sales tax is a one-time change that can’t be undone — just like the tax registration itself.
- In E-invoicing options, set Tax submission: Automatic on post (each invoice is sent as soon as it’s saved) or Manual (the invoice is held until you press “Submit to tax” on the document).
- If you sell in more than one currency, set the Currencies approved for e-invoicing: invoices in an unapproved currency keep working locally and aren’t sent to the tax department.
- In your invoice print template, make sure Show fiscal QR is on, and size the code to suit thermal paper or A4.
What happens to each invoice?
- Sell and print at once. The invoice is saved and the receipt prints immediately — the cashier never waits for the network or the system’s reply.
- Into the send queue. The invoice is recorded in a queue on your device, or held until you press “Submit to tax” if you chose manual submission.
- Sent in order. Raqame sends invoices to the national system in strict sequence (ICV), with no gaps or duplicates: when the app opens, when you return to it, when the connection comes back, or whenever you press “Sync now”.
- Accepted, with a QR code. On acceptance Raqame stores the official QR code the system returned and prints it on the invoice from then on. Before acceptance the invoice prints with “Pending authentication” where the code would be.
- Rejected. If the system rejects an invoice for a data error, it shows on the E-invoice status screen with the server’s reply and the reason. Fix the cause (for example the customer’s details or the company profile), then press “Resubmit”.
And when the internet drops?
This is where Raqame differs from cloud software: the database lives on your device, so selling, printing and accounting carry on without a connection. Invoices wait in the queue and go out on their own, in the same order, as soon as the internet is back — with nothing to re-enter.
- An invoice doesn’t take a sequence number (ICV) until its first send attempt, and every retry reuses the same number — so the numbering never has gaps.
- If sending fails because of the network or the system’s server, Raqame retries automatically at growing intervals (from a minute up to an hour), and never sends a later invoice ahead of an earlier one.
- If it keeps failing, the invoice is marked Needs attention on the status screen, so you know something needs you — such as connection details that changed in the portal.
Returns and corrections
- A return isn’t sent as a negative invoice but as a separate credit note that references the original invoice, with positive quantities and the reason for the return.
- An invoice that has been sent to the tax department can’t be edited or voided; you correct it with an opposite document (a return).
- Purchases, stock vouchers and stock counts are internal documents and aren’t sent to JoFotara — the system records what you sell, not what you buy.
What is sent to JoFotara?
| Document in Raqame | Sent? |
|---|---|
| Cash or credit sales invoice, including POS sales | Yes — as an invoice |
| Export or development-area invoice | Yes — with its own type code |
| Sales return | Yes — as a credit note referencing the original |
| Invoice in a currency not approved for e-invoicing | No — stays local |
| Purchase invoices and their returns | No — internal |
| Stock vouchers, counts and adjustments | No — internal |
Invoice statuses on the E-invoice status screen
| Status | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Pending authentication | Kept on your device waiting its turn, sent and waiting for the reply, or held until you press “Submit to tax” in manual mode. | Nothing in automatic mode — it goes out on its own when there’s a connection. |
| Accepted | The system recorded it and returned the official QR code. | Nothing — the code prints on the invoice. |
| Rejected | The system rejected it for a data error; the reason is in the server’s reply. | Fix the cause, then press “Resubmit”. |
| Needs attention | Sending failed several times in a row because of the connection or the connection details, and the queue waits there to keep the order. | Check the connection and your details in the portal, then press “Resubmit”. |
What Raqame checks before sending
- Your business name and tax number in the company profile.
- The customer’s name on credit (receivable) invoices, and on cash invoices over 10,000 JOD.
- The customer’s tax or national ID when you have it, sent as the buyer’s identifier.
- The sale type (local, export or development area) and payment (cash or credit) — together with your business type, they set the invoice type code in the system automatically.
E-invoicing FAQ
Do my invoices pass through Raqame’s servers?
No. The app sends each invoice from your device straight to the national invoicing system run by the Income and Sales Tax Department. Your connection details are stored encrypted on your device, and your business data is never uploaded to our servers.
Can I keep selling if the internet drops?
Yes. Selling and printing don’t need a connection; the invoice is saved and sent automatically, in order, as soon as the internet is back. Until it’s accepted it prints with “Pending authentication” instead of the QR code.
Where do I get the Client-Id and Secret-Key?
From the JoFotara portal: device linking, then new link, where you pick the income source sequence. Both values appear in the list of linked devices together with the sequence.
What’s the difference between automatic and manual submission?
Automatic sends each invoice as soon as it’s saved. Manual holds the invoice on your device until you press “Submit to tax” on the document; it’s then sent together with any earlier held invoices, in order.
Can I edit an invoice after it’s been sent?
No. A document sent to the tax department can’t be edited or voided; you correct it with a return (credit note) that references it.
Is e-invoicing included in the Lifetime license?
No. E-invoicing is a separate add-on with its own activation code and needs an active base license. You can try it as part of the 7-day free trial inside the app.
What if I want to stop the connection?
On the E-Invoicing screen choose “Unlink e-invoicing”: your connection details are removed from the device and new invoices stop being sent. Invoices already sent stay on record with the tax department, and the invoice counter is kept in case you link again later.
